How To Protect Your Baby From Illness
We get it. It's hard to keep up with all the news and advice about the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
If you’re anything like us, you're probably wondering what you can do to protect yourself and your little one. According to Public Health England, it’s important to carry on with the everyday precautions you should be taking anyway during cold and flu season:
-
avoid seeing people who aren't well and stay home when you're sick
-
avoid touching your face
-
use tissues for coughs and sneezes, then throw promptly in bin
-
clean and disinfect surfaces regularly
-
wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (or hand sanitiser if it's at least 60% alcohol).
There are also some amazing easy, natural ways to support your baby's (and your own!) natural immune response!
Eat your greens
There's nothing better than a healthy diet to support your body's natural immune response, and eating real fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants and Vitamins C are ideal. Strawberries, blueberries, oranges and carrots are all good sources.
Leafy green vegetables like kale and spinach are also rich in Vitamin A - can't go wrong there.
Our baby food mixes are designed to support your little one's health needs - our Carrot, Apple & Ginger mix is a winter favourite, as is our Hearty Veg & Quinoa meal, which features garlic + turmeric as well to lower inflammation.
Take your vitamins
Give your little one's body an added boost with supplements that are known to support your body's immune response. Look to add vitamins D, C & E.
Elderberry is also an amazing supplement. They are proven to help the body defend against disease and illness with its high levels of antivirin - a compound that helps prevent viruses from invading cells and replicating. Yes please.
Catch some Zs
Our bodies do important work whilst we sleep - even more so for little babes, who risk running down their immune systems if they don't get enough shut-eye. And that's even more reason why you should be looking after yourself, too - stress and worry can have a detrimental effect on your own immune system. Cue the deep breathing!
