Wardrobe Essentials For Everyday Mums - Busy But Put Together

Mumming (If that's a word) can be really tough; we have to juggle the cleaning, the cooking, waking the kids up, getting them ready, finding your partner's wallet or keys (it's always one or the other that gets lost). You get the picture our life is always a constant rush, and the mums who have it all together honestly surprise the living daylights out of me! Amongst all the rushing around after everyone else, it's tough to find the time to get yourself ready and put together. After having my baby, I forgot what that's even like! They say that you get over your old body and learn to dress your new one - I wish it were that easy! Ezra's nearly three now, and I still don't understand why it's so hard to chuck an outfit on and look amazing or even put together, at the least! It all seemed so effortless pre-baby.

However, I have found some wardrobe staples that I wear on repeat - they are perfect for most occasions and can be dressed up or down, easy to chuck on and make me feel like I have my life together (even if I don't).

A Perfect White Or Black Foundation Top!

It can never be a miss! It's far too easy and perfect for any outfit on the go. Whether you like a baggy or hugging fit, a simple top is always a classic, it'll go with any colour of jeans, and it's most definitely one that will last you a good time if purchased consciously and looked after. The choice is all yours and according to your taste, go for a plain black or white tee, maybe something with a bit of colour to brighten up the mood. Or, if you're looking for a more formal but casual option, give a white or black t-shirt a go. The moral of the story is to stay comfy, true to yourself, and most definitely be as cool as that mum you keep comparing yourself to!

The Ultimate Mom Jeans

It's all in the name! The 90's inspired look is high-waisted (perfect to tuck in the baby pouch tummy). The jeans are cut to have a baggy fit, especially over the bum and thigh, which then tapers down around the ankles creating a perfect silhouette! Not to forget, they are the comfiest, most basic yet put-together pieces that anyone can own. You'll have to do some looking around first to see what style suits you best! But when you find a pair that fits perfectly in all the "important areas", get two. The ideal wardrobe staples to own would be black and blue because they'll go with anything and everything! It's important to experiment, so try different colours, styles, and shapes to feel comfortable and confident with what you're wearing.

The Must Own Footwear

We, as mums, are constantly on our feet! We deserve to feel like we're walking on clouds, so here are a few must-have styles to own for different occasions. The first and foremost would be a trusty pair of Trainers perfect for the school runs or just a "not in the mood" kind of day (we all have those!) either go for a funky colour or a simple white pair, they'll both do the job in making you look ready for anything! The second would be The Combat Boot - with or without heals; they're ideal for making an outfit look smart yet casual. They're also very practical for the UK weather, which can be unpredictable. The best part is, they pretty much go with anything nowadays, even some dresses!

A Coat For Every Kind Of Outfit

We all need a few staple coats, and I'm here with my favourite two - A long coat is smart yet casual and has the ability to make you feel like a million pounds! My go-to would be black or tan, but, Honey, you do you express your sense of self! No matter what colour you choose. Along the lines of a long coat would be a trench coat, which is fantastic for putting on top of a rushed morning outfit to achieve the "I'm ready but put-together look" that we all desire.

The Statement Bag

We have a lot of stuff! Wipes, yeah, we got them! Snacks on-the-go? Yup, that too. Along with all the other necessities of parent life. This is why it's important to have a bag that does the job, for all jobs if you get me. I'm thinking along the lines of a Shopper or a medium-sized shoulder bag. These two are very versatile and can be paired up with any outfit. There's a lot of variety along with the standard black bag, so it gives you the chance to try a little pop of colour once in a while; try a bright green, orange, red - The world is your oyster!

I hope this help! It's always a good idea to have some inspiration at hand when you're trying to change up your style or just add a few more pieces into the wardrobe.

Happy Shopping ✌🏼
